Women-led Creative AI

Shaping Inclusive Futures
Through AI Storytelling

Dreaming boldly, acting courageously,

and bringing to life the future we want to see.

Just as the Internet and mobile technology transformed our world, Generative AI holds the potential to reshape how we connect, create, and build the future. The challenges ahead are real—but so are the opportunities—to reimagine systems, amplify voices, and address global issues with intelligence guided by human values.

We can envision a world where education is accessible to all, livelihoods are empowered through innovation, and urgent challenges like climate change and water sustainability are met with creative solutions. If we can imagine such a future, we can begin to bring it into reality. But an essential question remains: who will shape this future? Can Generative AI become a true force for equity—centering the leadership, creativity, and vision of women and non-binary individuals in creating a more inclusive and just tomorrow?

The AI Futures Fellowship for Women, launched in partnership with Malleshwaram Enterprising Women’s Society, Gooey.AI, and Jaaga Trust, was created to explore exactly that. Specifically designed for women and non-binary participants, this fellowship offers a vibrant space to experiment, collaborate, and lead transformative change through AI.

Throughout the program, 19 remarkable fellows engaged deeply with AI-powered storytelling tools to craft bold narratives and prototype projects with meaningful social impact. Supported by visionary mentors, they explored how technology can serve community, creativity, and justice in new and powerful ways.

This fellowship is not just about mastering new technologies—it is about imagining new possibilities and futures. It demonstrated what becomes possible when those who have historically been excluded from technology spaces take centerstage. The AI Futures Fellowship illuminates a future shaped by empathy, equity, and the enduring power of inclusive storytelling—where connection, empowerment, and transformative change are achieved.

One of my biggest challenges was overcoming my own mental blocks. As a cinematographer, my craft is rooted in movement—being on my feet, behind the camera, working with light and space. AI filmmaking, by contrast, positions you behind a screen. That shift was daunting. But it also opened up a whole new world: the ability to create a film from the comfort of my home, something I would never have been able to afford on my own.
