Tomorrow (19th May 2018) few of us are making our own Huarache ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huarache_(running_shoe) ). These are minimalist footwear that force the foot to walk/run with a natural gait while also protecting the foot. Here's more information about the benefits and characteristics of Huaraches http://remezcla.com/sports/havard-professor-explains-how-the-tarahumara-run-so-well-in-those-sandals/
So, see you tomorrow at Jaaga?
Thanks for sharing, Prithvi!
Here's an update regarding the making of the Huaraches. We bought an old sheet of rubber car mat and few cotton shoe laces as material for making this footwear. As tools we used a retractable blade knife that you commonly find in a stationary store and a hand drill with a 3 mm drill bit. We loosely followed this tutorial http://www.instructables.com/id/Upcycled-Minimalist-Running-Huaraches-or-Lifestyle/ Overall we did learn a lot in making these footwear, though it wasn't practical to be used as a daily wear since the rubber was quite brittle. We need to find more robust material for making the sole. Here are pictures from the making to give you an idea and inspire you to make Huaraches too.
